Meet Our Leadership

OLASENI KUSAMOTU
(Principal)

Seni holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law obtained from the University of Sussex UK. He further studied at Cardiff University in Wales where he obtained a Master of Laws degree in the Legal Aspects of Marine Affairs. Seni is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and an alumnus of King’s College Lagos.

 

His experience includes a stint at the law firm, F.O. Akinrele & Co. Seni later practiced at Shinkafi, Kusamotu, Olojo & Co where he honed his legal skills through the development of its Corporate/Commercial department coupled with gathering invaluable experience where the firm’s services was at various stages, periods and on different facets of legal services, retained by, and/or offered to, individuals, and corporate bodies such as, the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mainstreet Bank Nigeria Limited, Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Wemabod Estates Limited, Addax Petroleum Development (Nigeria) Limited, Bank of Industry, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc. (Nahco Aviance) and Nigeria LNG Limited. Seni was a founding Partner of Acuitas Legal, a multi-disciplinary, full-service law firm in Nigeria. He is currently the Principal at Seni Kusamotu & Co, and has over the years been extensively involved in regulatory compliance, private equity and the legal aspects of project finance and commercial transactions.

 

Seni is a Director of Oak Capital Investments Limited, a multi-faceted investment vehicle and was a founding Partner of Purple Capital Partners Limited, a specialist investment firm with business areas in Principal Investment, Private Equity and Real Estate. He also served as a Director of Maryland Mall Limited, owners of the iconic Maryland Mall in Lagos. Seni is a director and promoter of Art Hotel 1 Limited, the owners of the Art Hotel Lagos, a 49 keys avant-garde boutique hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. He served as a Director of Law Union and Rock Insurance Plc where he was the Chairman of the Board Strategy and Transformation Committee. He also served as a founding Director of Alternative Capital Partners Limited, a Securities and Exchange Commission registered Fund/Portfolio Manager and Investment Adviser which facilitated the first-ever acquisition and merger of two mutual funds from a bank by a local fund manager in Nigeria.

 

In addition to his legal qualifications and accomplishments, Seni is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) Nigeria Branch.

 

He is a member of the Lagos Polo Club.

OGUNROMBI
(Partner)

Oluwatobi is an accomplished professional with a diverse background seamlessly blending legal expertise, business acumen, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning. An alumna of the University of Lagos, where she earned her Bachelor of Laws degree, Oluwatobi further honed her legal skills at the prestigious Nigerian Law School, culminating in her enrollment as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

 

To showcase her dedication to mastering the intricacies of business, Oluwatobi expanded her horizons by obtaining a Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management from the esteemed Pan-Atlantic University. This move not only underscored her commitment to professional growth but also positioned her as a dynamic professional capable of navigating the complexities of both legal and entrepreneurial landscapes.

 

Embarking on her legal career at Messrs Shinkafi, Kusamotu, Olojo and Co, a prominent law practice in Lagos. Oluwatobi currently serves as a partner at Seni Kusamotu and Co and demonstrates a keen aptitude for drafting and reviewing intricate agreements and navigating legal complexities with finesse; she continues to contribute her wealth of legal expertise to the firm’s success.

 

Beyond her legal prowess, Oluwatobi is a trailblazer in the entrepreneurial realm. As a co-founder of Imperial Furnishing Limited, she played an instrumental role in the growth of a flourishing furniture-making business. Simultaneously, her role as a director of Turris Fortissima Properties Limited underscores her involvement in real estate development, showcasing her versatility in diverse sectors.

 

Recognizing the importance of investment diversification, Oluwatobi also assumes a directorial position at Oak Capital Investments Ltd, a multi-faceted investment company.

 

In her commitment to staying at the forefront of industry trends, Oluwatobi is currently undertaking training for Scrum Master certification. This additional dimension to her skill set highlights her dedication to professional development as a forward-thinking leader ready to embrace and implement agile methodologies in her legal and business endeavors.

⁠FUNKE OLUTOYE
(Of-Counsel)

Having garnered substantial expertise in the legal realm, Funke Olutoye is a distinguished legal professional admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Law from Reading University and furthered her legal education with a master’s degree from Vanderbilt University in the United States. Specializing in commercial litigation, governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), Funke has established herself as a seasoned practitioner in the field of law.

 

With extensive experience at Aluko & Oyebode in Lagos, Nigeria, spanning several years, Funke played a pivotal role in delivering tailored legal solutions across diverse sectors. Currently leading Duly Legal, she leverages her expertise to provide specialized legal services focused on compliance, governance, and risk management across various industries.

 

In addition to her role at Duly Legal, Funke serves as Of-Counsel at Seni Kusamotu & Co, contributing her legal acumen to support and guide their strategies.

Her background includes designing and implementing regulatory compliance frameworks, conducting training programs, and staying abreast of regulatory changes to mitigate compliance risks. Funke has advised on corporate governance frameworks, conducted performance reviews, and offered expert guidance on compliance issues. Notably, she excels in identifying legal issues, conducting thorough research, and developing robust case strategies, leading to successful litigation outcomes. Her expertise spans arguing court hearings, drafting complex legal pleadings, and managing legal documentation effectively.

 

Funke actively contributes to legal reforms and engages in speaking engagements, sharing insights on governance, cyber security, and cross-border data transfer. Holding various certifications in Anti-Money Laundering, Cyber security, Privacy, Ethics, Arbitration, and Mediation, she remains actively involved in legal and professional associations. Her technical skills encompass complex litigation, client collaboration, and proficiency in a range of software tools.

 

Funke’s multifaceted career underscores her commitment to legal excellence, adept navigation of regulatory landscapes, and dedication to providing specialized legal solutions for ensuring clients’ compliance and success.

⁠SIMISOLA LAWAL
(Associate)

Simisola Lawal is an adept and highly motivated lawyer with a background in legal analysis, contract evaluation and local and cross-border transactional advisory. Possessing a Bachelor of Laws degree in Common and Islamic Law from the University of Ilorin and a professional qualification from the Nigerian Law School, Simisola has consistently demonstrated diligence and commitment to innovation in the legal profession.

 

As an Associate at Seni Kusamotu & Co, Simisola has excelled in conducting in-depth review and analysis of a plethora of diverse legal agreements. Her expertise extends to optimizing risk management and compliance, collaborating with external legal teams for enhanced contract drafting, and utilizing a data-driven approach to legal service delivery.

 

Simisola’s professional journey includes invaluable experience as a Public Account Officer at the Nigerian National Assembly that showcased her ability to author legal documents, conduct extensive research, and contribute to administrative functions, highlighting her attention to detail and organizational prowess.

 

Simisola’s commitment to the legal landscape extends beyond her professional roles. As an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators and a Professional Human Resources Certification holder from the Human Resources Certification Institute, she continually seeks to broaden her skill set.

 

Simisola in her quest for further knowledge and professional certification is presently pursuing membership of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria.
